In addition to SARS-CoV-2, the implications of Post Covid-19 Syndrome: what are we producing?

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the scientific production in national and international journals regarding the Post Covid-19 syndrome, in the period 2019-2021. Guiding question: "What are the consequences of SARS-CoV-2 infection for the human body?" Methods: This is a state of the art regarding post-Covid syndrome, which was searched in the LILACS and Medline database with the terms “COVID-19”, “Coronavirus-19 disease”, “SARS-CoV-2 infections", "Coronavirus Infections", "Post COVID-19", in the 2019-2021 timeframe, with the inclusion criteria: article available in full and is published in Portuguese, English and Spanish. 16 articles were selected. Outcomes: Tackling SARS-CoV-2 goes beyond tackling an unknown virus, which results in the development of an equally unknown disease, but which is leading us to confront our own limitations as human beings, imperfect and limited. Thus, physical sequelae appear in people who have overcome COVID-19. Conclusion: It is not always the person assisted in serious condition who presents significant impairments in the post-illness, remaining after recovery from the infection with some persistent type of sequel. Post-COVID syndrome represents a clinical picture that results from the repercussion of the disease in the body and is composed of a set of nonspecific symptoms. As it is something recent, not much is known about it, but what is clear is that it does not only affect people who developed the severe form of COVID-19 and who were hospitalized in the ICU for a long period.

Audrey Moura Mota Geronimo, Universidade Federal de Alagoas

Graduated in Nursing from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (2016) and in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Ecology from the State University of Feira de Santana (2003). He has experience in the field of Ecology, with an emphasis on environmental impact identification, social management and Environmental Education. Graduated in the Accounting Technician course at Fundação Bradesco (Maceió/AL) in 1995. Development of various activities aimed at the assembly and execution of projects; database updating and processing; event monitoring, especially at the event secretariat (local, regional and national); establishment of partnerships. Solid experience in the public service area, including with regard to the reception of speakers at local, state and national level. Skills with Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel and Internet. Several actions related to personnel training (assembly and execution), especially with regard to the environment, tourism, social management, political education, interpersonal relationships and matters pertaining to the health area. Skills/Skills: proactive, communication, ethics, planning, teamwork and interpersonal relationships.

Isabel Comassetto, Universidade Federal de Alagoas

Graduated in Nursing and Obstetrics from the Federal University of Santa Maria - UFSM (1993). Master's Degree in Nursing from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN (2007). Doctorate in Sciences from the University of São Paulo - USP (2014). He is currently a professor at the Federal University of Alagoas -UFAL. Researcher at the PROCUIDATED Research Group; Health Care Group; NETWORK Research and Practice Group in Work, Education and Public Health. Has professional experience with an emphasis on Intensive Care, Urgency and Emergency; Medical-Surgical Nursing, Oncology and Patient Safety. Operates mainly in the following areas: Care to critical patients in the various care spaces; Patient safety and health quality; The care of the professional, patient and family in the experience of illness, death and grief.
