Collaborative learning in higher education: literature review in analysis of a collaborative musical practice

The general objective of this article was to discuss the characteristics and theoretical foundations of Collaborative Learning carried out in an educational practice with academics in initial training who participated in an Extension Course in the area of music at the State University of Maringá. The methodology was a case study with a qualitative approach in 11 observations participating in the Collaborative Pedagogical Training Laboratory. We bring to this article a literature review that addresses the characteristics of Collaborative Learning and that underlie the observed and analyzed practice. Academics who participated in collaborative music practice pointed out that Collaborative Learning is a freshness for education that seeks innovative methodologies more compatible with the collaborative nature of the arts. They pointed out the importance of the teacher to mediate the process so that the students share their ideas, opinions, creativity, stimulating the participation and engagement of all in the construction of their learning. When conducting this process, attention and respect to each speech, idea and opinion is needed. This experience contributes to the construction of a theoretical study in higher education about ways of learning and making music in different teaching contexts through interaction with colleagues and mediated by the teacher.
