Abstract

Objective: To identify the scientific evidence available in the literature on nursing care for cancer patients who have hypersensitivity reactions during antineoplastic treatment, and thus describe the best practices for its management. Methods: Integrative review of the literature operated from July to September 2019 in the PUBMED, EMBASE, CINAHL AND LILACS databases, from the terms Oncology, drug hypersensitivity, drug therapy, nursing care. Results: The search resulted in5 studies, which specifically investigated the Nursing interventions in relation to hypersensitivity reactions. Based on evidence-based practice (EBS), a framework was built determining the best practices described in the literature. Among the interventions found were: previous assessment of the patient, rapid assessment of the degree of reaction, pause of drug infusion, airway assessment, good breathing and circulation, administration of physiological solution, oxygen therapy, corticoids and antihistamines according to institutional protocols and continuous assessment of vital signs. Conclusion: Oncologist nurses need to be properly trained in the management of hypersensitivity reactions and with the medical team to provide the patient with rapid and accurate assistance to minimize complications and grievances during treatment.
