Abstract

The practices of mitigation of soil compaction influence soil attributes, through this, the objective was to evaluate the roughness and rate of soil cover by cover plants, conducted under soil preparation. The experiment was implemented in 2015, composed of five soil tillage systems: No-tillage (PD); Scarified no-tillage with 3-year interval (PDEi); Annual no-till planting (PDEa); No-tillage under minimum tillage with 3-year interval (PDPMi) and No-tillage under minimum tillage annually (PDPMa), carried out in May, before sowing cover crops: oats, vetch, turnip and intercropping of species (oats, vetch and turnip). The experiment consists of a factorial, with 3 repetitions. The parameters evaluated were soil roughness, soil cover rate per straw and plant, percentage of exposed soil up to 67 days after planting. The PD showed the smallest variation in soil roughness, about 2.5 cm of alteration, while for the other preparation treatments they varied from 3.6 - 4.4 cm. For the coverage rate by plants, the largest coverage of the soil by black oats and species consortia can be observed at 15, 30 and 53 days after planting. The PDEa obtained the highest percentage of initial exposed soil, around 71%, followed by PDPMa, PDEi, PDPMi and PD. Higher intensity preparations can affect soil characteristics and plant performance, as well as cause degradation over time.
