Nursing assistance to pregnant women living with human immunodeficiency virus: an integrative review

In recent years HIV infection has reached significantly, women aged between 15 and 49 years of age which coincides with their reproductive period, in addition most women with positive diagnosis for the disease have fixed sexual partners, for more than 5 years. All this problem leads to a reflection in relation to the quality of care provided to these pregnant women during prenatal care. This article analyzed based on scientific productions the nursing care of pregnant women living with human immunodeficiency virus. It is one of an integrative literature review with a qualitative approach, structured with the objective of analyzing the existing literary sources on the theme, through predefined steps, because it facilitates the process of systematization and analysis based on the results of other independent studies aimed at understanding a theme. Early discovery of the virus in the body during prenatal care is predominant, since it is possible to initiate chemoprophylaxis at the appropriate time for the prevention of vertical transmission and all necessary care. Knowing the main care, in the gestational period and in the puerperium, are essential for the health of pregnant women.
