Extension activity by nursing students in suicide prevention: An interdisciplinary approach to raising awareness among military police officers in the Northern Area Policing Command (CPA), Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil

The purpose of this Health Education program on suicide prevention is to promote mental health awareness among military police officers. The overall objective was to sensitize these professionals to the psychosocial impacts of their profession, promoting interventions through behavioral changes that alter service dynamics and produce positive results in the community. The methodology consisted of a scientifically based lecture held on September 3, 2025, at the Northern Area Police Command in Manaus, organized by nursing students from FAMETRO. The lecture addressed suicide as a condition affected by the development of disorders that can become triggers throughout professional and personal life, using a dynamic approach that involved frustrations and feelings. The results showed greater openness among police officers to recognize mental health issues and reduce the stigma surrounding psychological suffering, contributing to the appreciation of emotional care as part of the institutional routine. It is concluded that actions like this provide health information, humanize the military environment, and encourage the creation of a culture of support and resilience.
