Ansiedad, depresión y conducta alimentaria de estudiantes universitarios durante y después de la pandemia de COVID-19: ¿Qué se sabe?

Resumen

Los trastornos de ansiedad y la depresión afectan a muchas personas en todo el mundo. La ansiedad se caracteriza por una sensación anticipada de malestar ante una situación adversa, mientras que la depresión se describe como un sentimiento de tristeza constante. Estos dos factores influyen en la conducta alimentaria, ya que pueden surgir preferencias por alimentos hiperpalatables. Con la pandemia de COVID-19 y el aumento del aislamiento social y la educación a distancia, también han surgido sentimientos de incertidumbre sobre el futuro entre los estudiantes universitarios, lo que ha incrementado los casos de ansiedad y depresión. Incluso tras la flexibilización de las medidas de aislamiento, persisten los comportamientos derivados de la pandemia. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la ansiedad, la depresión y la conducta alimentaria de estudiantes universitarios durante y después de la pandemia de COVID-19. Para ello, se realizó una revisión bibliográfica integradora en las bases de datos PubMed, Capes Periodicals y la Biblioteca Virtual de Salud, utilizando los descriptores: Ansiedad, Depresión, Conducta Alimentaria, Estudiantes y COVID-19, entre 2020 y 2025. A partir del análisis de los artículos, se observó que la pandemia de COVID-19 impactó la salud mental y la conducta alimentaria de los estudiantes universitarios. Estudios han demostrado un aumento en los casos de ansiedad y depresión entre estudiantes de educación superior. En cuanto a la conducta alimentaria, se observó un aumento en el consumo de alimentos saludables y una reducción en el consumo de comida rápida, así como mayores preocupaciones por la salud ante la pandemia. Cabe destacar que pocos estudios han evaluado la salud mental y la conducta alimentaria en el período pospandémico.
