Hipomineralização molar incisivo e sua associação com cárie dentária: Uma revisão sistemática e meta-análise

Objetivo: Investigar, por meio de uma minuciosa análise da literatura, a associação entre a HMI e o aumento do risco de cárie dentária em crianças, discutindo os fatores relacionados e os tratamentos indicados. Metodologia: Uma revisão sistemática da literatura, por meio da análise de estudos obtidos nas bases de dados EMBASE, PubMed, LILACS e Scopus, utilizando os descritores “Molar Hypomineralization Dental”, “Molar Incisor Hypomineralization”, “Dental Caries” e “Pediatric Dentistry”. Resultados: Crianças com HMI apresentam uma probabilidade 3,69 vezes maior (IC95%: 2,81–4,84) de desenvolver experiências de cárie em comparação àquelas sem essa condição. A heterogeneidade entre os estudos foi significativa, demonstrada pelo teste (I2 = 79,1%; p < 0,001). Conclusão: A associação positiva entre a HMI e a cárie dentária, evidenciada neste estudo, pode estar associada à estrutura hipomineralizada e mais porosa do esmalte, que favorece a retenção de biofilme e a penetração bacteriana, o ressalta a importância de um diagnóstico precoce e de uma correta intervenção nos casos de HMI.
