El uso de enjuagues bucales como coadyuvante al tratamiento periodontal no quirúrgico en pacientes con Diabetes mellitus tipo 2: Revisión de la literatura

Resumen

La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 es una enfermedad sistémica la cual produce elevados niveles de glucosa en la sangre ya que existe una deficiencia o una disminución de la hormona insulina, dicha enfermedad afecta la calidad de vida del paciente que la padece. Múltiples estudios han vinculado a la diabetes tipo 2 con la enfermedad periodontal puesto que altera la respuesta inmunitaria del paciente afectando así al complejo de inserción dental; pese a las complicaciones que conlleva sobrellevar esta enfermedad, a nivel periodontal se han desarrollado múltiples tratamientos que ayudan a disminuir la sintomatología como es la terapia periodontal no quirúrgica con raspado y alisado radicular, aunque este tipo de terapia es muy efectiva el estudio realizado tiene como objetivo recabar información acerca de cómo los enjuagues bucales sirven de coadyuvantes en la terapia y como estas sustancias pueden ayudar no solo a reducir la enfermedad periodontal sino a mejorar la calidad de vida del paciente que padece diabetes mellitus tipo 2.
