Resumen

La suplementación con beta-alanina ha sido ampliamente utilizada como suplemento dietético para mejorar el rendimiento físico. Sus efectos positivos están asociados al aumento de carnosina muscular, lo que proporciona una mayor resistencia y reduce la fatiga durante el entrenamiento en diferentes deportes. Dicho esto, este artículo tiene como objetivo presentar una revisión narrativa que explora los beneficios de la suplementación con beta-alanina en el rendimiento deportivo y su influencia en la composición corporal. Los estudios investigados demuestran que la suplementación con beta-alanina contribuye al mejor desarrollo del ejercicio, elevando los niveles de carnosina y minimizando la sensación de fatiga, resultando en un mejor rendimiento físico. Además, se discuten las diferentes dosis y sus posibles efectos secundarios. La revisión también se centra en el papel de la beta-alanina en la formación de carnosina, un compuesto dipeptídico presente de forma natural en el cuerpo humano. Los resultados destacan que la beta-alanina tiene beneficios en el rendimiento físico, con solo un efecto secundario fácilmente evitable, que contribuye a la mejora de la resistencia y la reducción de la fatiga muscular durante el entrenamiento de resistencia.
