Gravidez e doença periodontal: Revisão da literatura

Resumo

Objetivo: O objetivo do estudo é determinar a relação e o impacto que as doenças periodontais têm durante a gravidez, tanto para a gestante quanto para o feto. Metodologia: Foi realizada uma busca exaustiva da literatura nas bases de dados "PUBMED", "Science Direct", "Scopus" e "Ebsco" usando as palavras-chave: "Pregnancy", "Periodontal Disease", "Gingivitis", " Periodontitis”; onde se obteve um total de 20 artigos que atenderam aos critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Resultados: A doença periodontal traz sérias consequências no desenvolvimento do feto devido ao desequilíbrio entre a imunidade do paciente e a presença de microrganismos periodontais patogênicos. Conclusão: A doença periodontal é um fator de risco a ter em conta durante a gravidez, o seu diagnóstico precoce e tratamento eficaz evitarão qualquer tipo de complicação a curto ou longo prazo.
