Internal recruitment is a strategic human resource management tool aimed at identifying, valuing, and reallocating professionals who are already part of the organization’s staff, making use of their skills and experience to enhance institutional performance. The main objective of this study was to analyze internal recruitment as a people management strategy within the Military Police of Alagoas (PMAL), seeking to understand its impact on motivation, professional appreciation, and administrative efficiency. The methodological design adopted was descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, based on bibliographic review and documentary analysis. The results showed that internal recruitment enhances the rational use of human capital, reduces costs related to external hiring, promotes professional development, and strengthens organizational commitment. It was verified that, by recognizing and applying the technical and academic skills of military personnel, the institution promotes greater engagement, satisfaction, and functional performance. It is concluded that internal recruitment is an effective practice for professional appreciation and growth, contributing to the development of a more efficient and human-centered public administration aligned with the principles of meritocracy, while reducing operational costs and strengthening the institutional capacity of the Military Police of Alagoas to meet society’s demands with excellence.
