Transparency in the Unified Health System: Guiding Infographic of the Waiting List in Santa Catarina, Brazil

Objective: To develop an educational technology to guide and support professionals regarding the Waiting List Platform of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) in the state of Santa Catarina. Method: Experience report carried out at a Primary Health Care Unit in the municipality of Brusque, Santa Catarina. Six professionals responsible for data entry in the National Regulation System participated. The educational practice used the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). Results: An educational infographic and a printed card with a QR Code were developed. The infographic provides guidance on the SUS Waiting List Platform of Santa Catarina, citizens’ right to information, how data are accessed, and the role of professionals in promoting citizenship and welcoming users within the SUS. The printed card, delivered to users, contained the access link. Among the participants, 32% were able to access the platform, while 35% reported not having received the card. Discussion: The use of a simple educational technology showed potential to strengthen transparency and the bond between professionals and users. The action contributed to expanding professionals’ knowledge and encouraging transparency regarding the online monitoring of the waiting list. However, factors such as limited time, work overload, and low engagement of some participants hindered the consolidation of the practice. The experience reinforces the nurse’s role as a mediator of information for social control and the strengthening of the SUS. Conclusion: The educational infographic proved to be an effective and accessible tool that requires continuity, constant evaluation, and ongoing education to improve communication and expand access to health information.
