Efecto de la dexametasona en el dolor postoperatorio en endodoncia: revisón integradora de la literatura

Resumen

Un problema frecuente en Endodoncia es el dolor postoperatorio, que puede variar desde una sensibilidad de baja intensidad al morder el diente, hasta un dolor intenso con un ligero toque. El desarrollo de dolor postoperatorio en endodoncia suele ser causado por una respuesta inflamatoria en los tejidos periapicales. Existen fármacos que controlan la síntesis de mediadores inflamatorios, como la dexametasona, que deben ser considerados de forma preventiva en el control de la reacción inflamatoria, y así prevenir el dolor posterior al tratamiento endodóntico. El objetivo de este trabajo fue realizar una revisión integradora de la literatura actual sobre el uso y eficacia de la dexametasona en endodoncia. Se realizó a través de una búsqueda de artículos científicos en la base de datos electrónica PubMed utilizando los descriptores: endodoncia con dexametasona, eficacia endodoncia con dexametasona, indexados desde 2012 hasta febrero de 2021, involucrando ensayos clínicos. Ocho artículos publicados íntegramente en inglés cumplieron los criterios de elegibilidad. Los estudios seleccionados demostraron que el uso de dexametasona administrada por vía oral o mediante inyecciones intraligamentarias como premedicación, durante los procedimientos o en el posoperatorio es eficaz en el control del dolor después de los procedimientos de endodoncia.
