Eficácia da dexametasona na dor pós-operatória em endodontia: revisão integrativa da literatura

Resumo

Um problema frequente na Endodontia é a dor pós-operatória, que pode variar desde uma sensibilidade de baixa intensidade ao morder sobre o dente, até uma dor severa diante de um leve toque. O desenvolvimento da dor pós-operatória em endodontia é normalmente ocasionado devido a uma resposta inflamatória nos tecidos periapicais. Existem medicamentos que controlam a síntese dos mediadores inflamatórios, assim como a dexametasona, que devem ser considerados para prevenção no controle da reação inflamatória, e com isso prevenir a dor pós-tratamento endodôntico. O objetivo desse trabalho foi realizar uma revisão integrativa da literatura atual sobre o uso e eficácia da dexametasona na endodontia. Esta foi realizada por meio de uma busca de artigos científicos na base de dados eletrônica PubMed utilizando os descritores: dexamethasone endodontics, efficacy dexamethasone endodontics, indexados no período de 2012 a fevereiro de 2021 envolvendo ensaios clínicos. Oito artigos integralmente publicados em língua inglesa preencheram os critérios de elegibilidade. Os artigos selecionados mostraram que o uso da dexametasona administrada por via oral ou por injeções intraligamentares como pré-medicação, durante os procedimentos ou no pós-operatório é eficaz no controle da dor após procedimentos endodônticos.
